Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
Ephesians 4:2-3
As I enjoyed my Bento Box, eating most every bite of edamame, cucumber salad and one of the most delicious Sushi rolls I've ever eaten along with a mini-burger and french fries, I could hardly believe such deliciousness. But right in the midst of thinking only about the food I was eating, God began to fill me with some spiritual food as well. For while I was sitting at that table in that noisy, wonderful food establishment, God reminded me that He is the master of putting things together that at first glance would never fit. Things as simple as sweet and salty or as complex as night and day. We need them all. But the big one He brought to mind that night is people. People very different from one another, yet God blends them masterfully. Some of my best friendships fit that category. We're so different, yet we fit together beautifully. Nonetheless, I couldn't help but wonder: Have I missed some great friendships on the road of life simply because at first glance I thought we were too different?
Well, today I'm headed to a retreat where I'm a little nervous about meeting new people. Will there be anyone like me? Perhaps not. But that may be a very good thing. For God is in the business of bringing people into our lives who at first glance we'd never think would fit. I'm looking for that one, and where ever you find yourself today, I hope you are too.
Perhaps you'll find me!
Blessings,
