"And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,..."
Acts 5:14
One morning last week I was sitting in Starbucks waiting for a friend, and I could hardly believe the number of people who came into the store. Several times the line was out the door, and as I sat and watched, the first thing that came into my mind was that I was sitting in a gold mine! The owner of Starbucks has it made, as if I didn't already know that. As my thoughts lingered, suddenly I began to think of the number of people who came to Jesus when He was on the earth as a man. Large crowds from all over followed Him, people of all kinds. And, as the above verse tells us, that continued even after Jesus had returned to heaven as the first church began. People came to the Lord in droves!
As I continued to watch the parade of people come and go at Starbucks that morning, I couldn't help but wonder how it would be if such crowds came to Jesus today. Can you imagine if the line went out the door at our churches on Sunday mornings or Saturday nights? Or, at our home churches or Bible Studies? Wouldn't it be wonderful if people were as eager to come for a drink of God's Word as they are for a cup of coffee?
Why did so many come to Jesus? Was it because they didn't have a Starbucks?
I wonder.
Blessings,
