"...at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:10-11 NASB

Last year for Christmas one of my friends gave me one of those small desk calendars with a tear-off page for every day of the year. This one is by artist Mary Engelbreit so on each page is one of her cute little drawings along with a few catchy words for the day. Although I enjoy it, most days I quickly take a look and promptly forget about it. But last Wednesday was different. It caught my attention in a way I haven’t been able to forget.
You see, the previous day, in our Bible Study we had read and studied about that coming day when every knee will bow and every tongue will acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord. And this time when I read those words in the Bible, I realized afresh what’s ahead for those of us who know Jesus. It truly will be a grand and glorious day and it truly is something to look forward to.
So, the next morning when my eyes caught sight of the page on my calendar—pictured on this post—the excitement on the little’s girl’s face and the eager anticipation in the little boy’s posture as he looked around the corner, sparked my own eager anticipation of that day when everyone of all times will bow before Jesus in worship. And the quote by G. K. Chesterson just added to it. For he said: “There is one thing which gives radiance to everything. It is the idea of something around the corner.” He put in a nutshell what was brewing in my own heart, the truth that when we have something to look forward to, it puts a radiance on everything about us, everything we think and everything we do. At least, it should, especially when it comes to that wonderful day when Jesus will be honored in front of the whole world.
Even though life is often hard and filled with disappointments and troubles of all kinds, if we know Jesus, all those things will come to an end as everyone of all times bows in worship before the Lord Jesus Christ. What a day that will be!
There’s nothing like it to look forward to, and in reality, it’s just around the corner!
