"I the LORD do not change."
Malachi 3:6
Malachi 3:6
Recently I was poking around in a store browsing among items for the home, and I was quickly reminded that instead of the elegance of the home décor of not too many years ago when everything had to match, the popular style of the day is simple. It’s characterized by materials such as wood and tin—or galvanized steel, if you want to be sophisticated! The style of today is known simply as Farmhouse. Most anything can be used to create that style, for it includes garage sale and flea market finds, as well as signs and chalkboards. Even my daughter now has a Farmhouse sign in her home! Actually I like the style, but as I walked through the store, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the home in which I was born as well as my grandmother’s home.
She lived in the back woods of Minnesota in the same house that was built in the early 1900’s until she died sometime in the 1970’s. I remember when I was a child and we would pay my grandparents a visit, I thought their house was so old-fashioned. And it was at the time. However, if it were still standing today, it would be a treasure. It would be a Farmhouse style dream home. In fact, I have a few of my grandmother’s things that my mother passed on to me that would fit perfectly in such a home.
All of this got me to thinking about the fact that everything changes. Things come and go. What’s in today will be gone tomorrow, and what’s out today will be back tomorrow. It seems that nothing stays the same. Some changes are good, but most of the time, they’re difficult. I’ve experienced some changes recently that are hard, and as a result my heart has ached. However, I do have one thing that never changes, the very most important thing. It’s God, who is the same yesterday, today and forever. He Himself said: “I the LORD do not change.” Malachi 3:6
Farmhouse style or whatever style may be in tomorrow, God and His Word, the Bible, will never change!
I’m going to hold on tight!
Blessings and love,

P.S. The house in the photo is the one in which I was born!
