Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.”
Jesus - Matthew 11:28-29
As I watched her, and as the scene unfolded before my eyes, I can’t adequately describe the joy on that little girl’s face when her grandma caught sight of her and held out her arms, beckoning her to come. Immediately, Violet ran across the patio to where her grandma was sitting, jumped into her lap, hugged her with both arms and buried her head in her grandma’s bosom.
It was such a tender moment of love between a grandma and her young granddaughter that I just couldn’t help but think of Jesus and how He is standing at the fringes of our lives just waiting for us to recognize Him so He can open up His arms and beckon us to come.
It was just what I needed to see, especially on that particular Saturday morning, for the previous week I’d experienced some heavy burdens, and my heart was heavy. Jesus knew I needed to be reminded of the availability of His comforting love in the midst of the heaviness of life, and what a way to do so—through the actions of an ordinary little girl and her grandma!
Blessings and love,
