For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,..."
Isaiah 61:10
I had experienced an exhausting weekend in Colorado, and the last thing I wanted to do was get dressed up, and since it was a holiday, I assumed the plane would be jam-packed and getting a first-class seat was highly unlikely so I decided to dress down. But, after talking to my husband the night before, who convinced me to be prepared for the best, I reconsidered and made the effort to look like a professional, well-dressed woman.
When I arrived at the gate, the boarding area was like a zoo—standing room only—so when the ticket agent issued me a ticket in the middle of row 14, I was glad to get it and settled in. Then, surprise of surprises, just before the door was closed, the ticket agent came aboard calling my name, telling me to take the one empty seat in first class and to do so quickly. So, without hesitation, I walked toward the front of the plane, looking for that choice seat, and just as I got there, I noticed a scruffy looking man vacating that seat and muttering under his breath as he headed toward the back of the plane. I could tell he was anything but happy. Nonetheless I settled into that luxurious seat and just as the door slammed shut, I was told that in view of how that man was dressed, he was relegated to the back row, “next to the toilets.” And since I was next in line, I got the choice seat.
As the door slammed shut and the plane began its trip to the runway, I stretched my legs, put a pillow behind my back and settled into that comfortable seat, breathing a sigh of thankfulness. Then, just as the flight attendant offered me a cup of freshly brewed coffee, I felt that familiar nudge of God in my heart telling me I had just witnessed a picture of the requirement for entry into heaven. You see, when our time here on earth is done, If we want to be allowed inside the gates of heaven, we must be properly dressed. In other words, we must be clothed with salvation and robes of righteousness; which garments are available only through faith in Jesus. Oh, there will be plenty of people who try to avoid the dress code requirements, depending upon their own good deeds to get them in. But, like that man on the plane, they will be found out and relegated to spending eternity outside the gates.
Don't let that happen! Get properly dressed today by putting your faith in the only One who holds the key! His name is Jesus!
Blessings to you today!
